Privacy policy
1. Who is responsible for your data
The Dutch Method is a trade name of Next Upload. Our full company details, including our registered address, KvK number and VAT ID, are on our company details page. You can reach us at support@thedutchmethod.com.
We are the controller for the personal data described in this policy. For privacy questions, email support@thedutchmethod.com.
2. What data we process
- When you buy a book: your name, email address, country, order details and payment status. Your card or bank details are handled by Stripe or PayPal and are never visible to us.
- When you email us: your email address, your name if you give it, and the content of your message.
- When you visit this website: our hosting provider Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver and protect the website.
3. Why we process it, and on what basis
- To deliver your purchase, send your download link and order email, and handle questions or refunds: necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To keep our accounts and meet tax obligations, including VAT: a legal obligation.
- To keep the website secure and working: our legitimate interest.
We do not sell your data, we do not send you marketing emails, and we do not use your data for profiling.
4. Cookies
This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies, and it loads no third-party analytics. Our fonts are hosted on our own website. When you go to checkout, you move to Payhip, which uses its own cookies; see Payhip's privacy policy.
5. Who we share data with
- Payhip (Payhip Ltd, United Kingdom): our sales and checkout platform, which also handles VAT and sales tax.
- Stripe and PayPal: payment processing.
- Cloudflare: website hosting and email forwarding.
- Google (Gmail): the mailbox where emails to our support address arrive.
- Our bookkeeper or accountant, and tax authorities where required by law.
Some of these providers process data outside the European Economic Area, for example in the United Kingdom or the United States. This happens on the basis of an adequacy decision of the European Commission (such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep it
Order and payment records are kept for 7 years, because Dutch tax law requires this. Emails with questions are deleted within 2 years after the question has been resolved, unless they belong to an order record.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. Email support@thedutchmethod.com and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the data protection authority in your own country.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated.
